This briefing document examines fifteen years’ worth of salary data for OSSTF/FEESO teachers in public secondary schools.

  • When inflation is taken into account, teachers have lost ground over the last ten years. In real dollars, teachers’ salaries decreased by 6.5% between the 2009/2010 and 2018/2019 school years.
  • On average, over the past fifteen years, teachers’ salaries have essentially kept pace with inflation. In real dollars ($2018), even the highest-paid teachers earn just $214 or 0.2% more now than they did in the 2003/2004 school year.
