On October 18, 2019 OSSTF/FEESO filed for conciliation for both the Support Staff and the Teacher/Occasional Teacher central bargaining tables. This means that the Minister of Labour will appoint a conciliation officer for each of the central tables. The officer will meet with OSSTF/FEESO negotiators and the management teams in an effort to assist the parties in reaching an agreement.

Conciliation is a routine step in negotiations when parties have been unable to resolve differences at the bargaining table. As reported in previous Bargaining Bulletins, OSSTF/FEESO is frustrated with the slow pace of negotiations and the unwillingness of the management teams to engage in meaningful discussions of substantive issues.

Bargaining at the Support Staff central table is scheduled to resume on October 23, and bargaining at the Teacher/Occasional Teacher central table is scheduled for October 24 and 25. Additional central table bargaining dates have also been scheduled for October 29, 30 and 31, and November 1. We anticipate that meetings with the conciliation officer will take place on one or more of these scheduled dates.

At all bargaining sessions, OSSTF/FEESO will continue to advance positions that are important to our members, essential for our students, and crucial to the survival of a viable public education system.

The document below outlines the bargaining timelines in the School Board Collective Bargaining Act and where we currently are in the process.
